OUR CULTURE

Working at the Clean Energy Council

We work on a flexible, hybrid model because we know work has to fit in around life.

Our main office is located at 180 Lonsdale Street, right in the heart of Naarm (Melbourne) on unceded Wurundjeri land.

Next door to the State Library and sitting atop QV and all the delicious food and convenient services on offer below, our position on level 20 affords beautiful city views with lots of natural light – from up here, you can spot which city buildings have rooftop solar installed! We are located very close to trams, trains and busses – and for those cycling in, we have fantastic end-of-trip facilities (and you’ll find plenty of fellow cycling enthusiasts here, most passionate of whom is our CEO).

Flexible working allows us to hire expert staff wherever they are in Australia, so we also have staff who work remotely; regular online contact and occasional in-person trips mean our remote staff feel very much part of the Melbourne-based Clean Energy Council family.

Our leave benefits include five additional paid days off per annum, paid parental leave, and the ability to purchase additional leave. We offer rebatable salary packaging through Simplygreen; click here to find out more.

Our staff-run Social Club have your social needs covered with morning teas, trivia nights, Friday quizzes, after-work drinks and trips to live sporting and cultural events.

Wellbeing goes hand-in-hand with a healthy environment; we encourage our staff to travel actively to work, to grab a stand-up desk for a posture change, to take walking breaks during the day, and to take mental health breaks when necessary. When more support is needed, you can reach out to our Employee Assistance Program – we offer five free and strictly confidential sessions each year, for anything from stress management and life changes to career counselling, or whatever you need to chat about.

ACTIONING OUR VALUES

First Nations Reconciliation Action Plan

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples play a crucial role in Australia’s clean energy transition, which must occur in a just and inclusive way if the industry is to maintain community support and its social licence.

The Clean Energy Council are on a reconciliation journey, always looking to do more – our Reconciliation Action Plan reflects our commitment towards creating a culture in which the principles of reconciliation are lived across the entire organisation.

The ultimate aim is for this culture to filter through to our interactions with the wider Australian renewable energy industry, paving the way for a future in which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are empowered by their agency in Australia’s energy system and benefit from the nation’s transition to 100 per cent renewables by 2030.
