Illuminating the future of energy

Renewable energy developments can provide consistent, drought-proof income to supplement farming activities, and traditional farming can continue around renewable energy infrastructure.

Solar projects provide additional revenue streams to landholders while also supplying shade for livestock. The moisture that collects on solar panels overnight also helps to drought-proof large parcels of land. The combination of livestock and solar is called 'agrisolar' and Australia is already a world leader in its deployment.

Too often, solar farms are built only to wait months for connection and access. We're working with multiple stakeholders to ensure energy captured from the sun can be transported to where it's needed as quickly as possible. This means reducing the amount of time it takes to connect new solar farms to the grid and once connected, ensuring there is capacity to export the cheap energy they produce.

Connections Reform Initiative

The National Electricity Market (NEM) continues to evolve through a period of significant transformation, characterised by greater penetration of inverter-based resources, a more diverse generation mix and a more decentralised system.

With huge growth in the industry, recruiting electricians, engineers and skilled workers is critical. Our Careers for Net Zero job fair and our Careers Guide are engaging the next generation of clean energy workers, our Careers Hub is helping fill existing job vacancies and we're working with unions, governments and training organisations to unlock skilled migration and portable entitlements.

We're also helping train, educate and support solar installers on mid-sized commercial installations through our LearnLAB platform and myCEC service.
