The 120-minute ‘Leading practice: First Nations engagement’ course guides participants through the principles of genuine engagement and partnership with First Nations communities on clean energy projects.
The course is based on the Clean Energy Council’s ‘Leading Practice Principles: First Nations and Renewable Energy Projects’ guide and the First Nations Clean Energy Network’s ‘Best Practice Principles for Clean Energy Projects’.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this online course, you will understand:
- The 10 Best Practice Principles for Clean Energy Projects developed by the First Nations Clean Energy Network, which outline engagement, participation and benefit-sharing practices and why they’re important for the success of clean energy projects.
- Ways to build cultural competency in your team, engage respectfully using accessible information and embed transparency and accountability.
- Ways to protect cultural heritage, Country and the environment, manage and mitigate impacts and embed land stewardship into projects.
- Ways to provide social benefits and share economic benefits with First Nations communities
