Expanding the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) to include household batteries & Expanding the SRES inspections program

This session will include two presentations from the Clean Energy Regulator, which administers the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES). 

In the first presentation, attendees will learn about the key policy, regulation and administrative changes involved in expanding the scheme to include household solar batteries. 

The second presentation will explore insights from Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) inspections program gathered from over 46,000 solar PV system inspections since 2010. Attendees will gain insight into inspection criteria, trending issues, and the program’s role in improving industry standards. Learn how data-driven oversight, collaboration, and regulatory enforcement are driving safer, more reliable solar and battery installations across Australia.

Using hot water heaters to optimise PV self-consumption and assist grid stability

Learn about the potential of water heaters to act as domestic thermal batteries, optimising PV self-consumption and benefiting grid voltage and frequency stability. Attendees will understand how it's possible to lower consumer energy costs whilst assisting the transition to clean energy.

The NSW Consumer Energy Resources Installer Portal & implementation of the Emergency Backstop Mechanism in NSW

From mid-2026, all new, upgraded, and replacement rooftop solar systems in NSW must be backstop-enabled. This session will introduce the new Consumer Energy Resources (CER) Installer Portal, developed in collaboration with NSW DNSPs and Energy Networks Australia. The portal will streamline compliance with safety and technical standards, simplify registration processes, and support the rollout of the Emergency Backstop Mechanism across the state.
