The Clean Energy Council (CEC), in its capacity as the product listing body, has suspended several battery models from Bytewatt Technology Co., Ltd (NEOVOLT), effective 15 September 2026, due to non-compliance with the CEC’s Terms and Conditions (T&Cs).
The suspension decision was not taken on the basis of a product recall or any identified product safety issue.
Suspended products are ineligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs). Given the quantity of existing stock in Australia, this will have a serious impact for some businesses and consumers. We have provided more information on this suspension below. Suspension of one NEOVOLT battery lifted
Check the nameplate to see if eligible again for STCs
The Clean Energy Council (CEC), in its capacity as the product listing body, has lifted the suspension for one Bytewatt Technology Co., Ltd (NEOVOLT) battery model, effective 7 October 2026. The CEC has lifted the suspension as NEOVOLT have satisfied outstanding corrective actions relevant to that model to demonstrate compliance with the CEC’s product listing Terms and Conditions (T&Cs).
From 7 October 2026, batteries confirmed as the relisted BW-BAT-9.6P model may be installed therefore, subject to program and network requirements. Only certain variants of the relisted BW-BAT-9.6P model, identifiable by specific nameplate details, are eligible for Small-scale technology certificates (STCs). Find out more in the FAQs below.
The suspension remains in force for other NEOVOLT battery models as the outstanding corrective action relevant to those models is yet to be addressed. Suspended products are ineligible for small-scale technology certificates (STCs).

Can I still install NEOVOLT stock I already have?
Suspended products are not eligible for STCs from the date they are suspended until the suspension is lifted, if that should occur. Suspended products are also not eligible for any program or network that requires use of CEC Approved Products.
From 7 October 2026, batteries confirmed as the relisted BW-BAT-9.6P model may be installed therefore, subject to program and network requirements. Only certain variants of the relisted BW-BAT-9.6P model, identifiable by specific nameplate details, are eligible for Small-scale technology certificates (STCs). What happens to my rebate or STC claim?
Should you install a suspended product from the date of suspension, and before a suspension is lifted, the application for STCs will be rejected.
For the relisted BW-BAT-9.6P model, installations completed on or after 7 October 2026 may be eligible for STCs, subject to meeting all scheme requirements. Installations completed while that model was suspended, from 15 September to 6 October 2026 inclusive, are not eligible for STCs. BW-BAT-9.6P I to BW-BAT-9.6P VI remain ineligible while suspended. Eligibility for any separate state, territory or other rebate must be confirmed with the relevant program administrator.

Why was the suspension partially lifted?
The CEC lifted the suspension of BW-BAT-9.6P after the manufacturer provided satisfactory information explaining the imported variants and identifying the stock associated with each variant. This addressed the corrective action relevant to that model.
BW-BAT-9.6P I, BW-BAT-9.6P II, BW-BAT-9.6P III, BW-BAT-9.6P IV, BW-BAT-9.6P V and BW-BAT-9.6P VI remain suspended because a separate corrective action is outstanding.
• The nameplate labels on these models supplied in Australia remain inconsistent with the labels in the testing and certification documentation initially supplied to the CEC.
• The suspension will remain in place until the manufacturer completes the outstanding corrective action and the CEC is satisfied that the relevant product listing requirements have been met.
The partial lifting does not indicate a product recall or an identified product safety issue. The CEC is continuing to work with the manufacturer on the outstanding compliance matter and will publish any further change to the status of the remaining models.
What should the nameplate for a BW-BAT-9.6P show to be eligible for STCs?
There are two variants of the BW-BAT-9.6P battery model which look similar and carry the same model number, but only batteries with the nameplate details shown in the table below are eligible for STCs. Before installation, check the nameplate details for working voltage range, max. continuous charge and discharge current and battery designation. Neovolt has quarantined the mislabelled batteries that were supplied to market but not yet installed so they can be relabelled. If any nameplate detail does not match the table below, please contact Neovolt’s registered importer to seek a resolution. If the importer does not respond, please contact the CEC.

Timeline and next steps
- 7 September 2026 – We notified industry via email of intention to suspend the NEOVOLT battery models above.
- 15 September 2026 – The NEOVOLT battery models above were suspended and industry notified via email and the product suspensions and delistings page. Affected products are no longer eligible for STCs from this date.
- 15 September 2026 to 14 December 2026 – Manufacturer has three months to complete corrective actions.
- If corrective actions are completed, the suspension is lifted and industry notified via email and the product suspensions and delistings page. Affected products are eligible for STCs again from the date the suspension is lifted.
- If corrective actions are not completed, the NEOVOLT battery models above are de-listed and industry notified via email and the product suspensions and delistings page.
- 7 October 2026 - Suspension for BW-BAT-9.6P model lifted and industry notified via email and CEC updates website to reflect the change in the suspension status.
- 7 December 2026 – Intent to de-list notice will be issued to NEOVOLT with deadline of 14 December 2026 and comms circulated to industry if suspension is still in force for remaining models.
- 15 December 2026 – CEC website to be updated to show remaining models as de-listed if outstanding corrective actions are not satisfied by 14 December.
