The Australian Government offers strong financial incentives for individuals and small businesses to install rooftop solar systems through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), operated by the Clean Energy Regulator (CER). For the past 15 years the Clean Energy Council has administered an accreditation program of installers and designers to help protect the integrity of the scheme and raise standards in the industry. In March, we announced that we chose not to apply to continue as the accreditation scheme operator.
The CER's latest announcement means that the accreditation program will continue to be administered by the Clean Energy Council until at least February 2024. To remain accredited and eligible for Sustainable Technology Certificates (STCs), installers should therefore continue to fulfil the obligations of the accreditation program including payment of fees, completion of CPD points and cooperation with any compliance actions. We are committed to working collaboratively with the CER through this process to achieve the best outcome for consumers and installers and will keep industry informed about any developments as they occur. The Clean Energy Council are proud of what the industry has achieved in the 15 years we have been administering the accreditation program and are excited to help it grow and prosper further as Australian homes and businesses electrify. The rooftop solar and battery sector is critical to the clean energy transition and we will continue to support the industry through our ongoing policy and advocacy work, the administration of the Approved Products and NETCC programs and through industry education, training and technical support.
