The following is attributable to William Churchill - Clean Energy Council Chief Policy and Impact Officer:

"The Clean Energy Council welcomes today's announcement of an expanded SRES support for up to 1 MW of solar capacity being installed for commercial and industrial applications. Large commercial rooftops are untapped potential to assist with powering our cities.

"We've long called for measures to help bridge the gap between Australia's world-leading uptake of rooftop solar on homes and small businesses, and utility scale projects. The opportunities make good business sense as a large industrial site could save up to $228,000 a year on its power bills.

"With more rooftop solar and storage taking off, the next phase is to understand how people's and businesses behaviour with these assets is driving better use of the grid. The CEC is embarking on a piece of work on the wider network benefits from rooftop solar and storage, including how are we reducing evening peaks as consumers shift their own energy generation, storage and use."
