Energy Day At Cop28 Australia

Australia’s success in realising its superpower vision would be a decidedly good thing for global emissions reductions efforts. Professor Frank Jotzo of the Australian National University told a packed audience that if Australia exported the same quantity of energy in green forms as it does in thermal coal and LNG, and processed all its currently exported iron ore, bauxite and alumina into green steel and aluminium, then Australia could reduce global emissions by a whopping 5%.

It was great to also hear from some of the clean energy investors and proponents whose firms are working to develop and deliver the first wave of projects, including Engie’s Rik de Buyserie, Pollination’s Anna Hancock, Masdar’s Sujit Pahar, Masdar and the CEFC’s Monique Miller.
