The Clean Energy Council (CEC) and Australian Energy Council (AEC) have submitted a joint Clarity and Transparency in Security Frameworks rule change proposal to the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC).
Members identified three key areas where the current system strength, inertia and Network Support and Control Ancillary Services' market frameworks could be improved:
- Greater clarity on annual planning obligations
- Enhanced accountability and transparency in essential system services planning and procurement
- More consistent procurement processes across all National Electricity Market jurisdictions, with flexibility to evolve alongside the market
The AEMC is considering initiating the joint AEC–CEC rule change request alongside the Australian Energy Market Operator's related proposal in mid-March. We look forward to working with the AEMC and all interested stakeholders as this progresses.
