The Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) regulates how much money electricity network companies can spend and recover from customers’ bills. Network costs make up the largest component of power bills, so we welcome the AEMC's Electricity Network Regulation Review (ENRR) Package 2 which seeks to ensure network regulations deliver a low-cost, reliable supply of electricity to consumers over the long-term.
Our submission to the AEMC argues that network regulation should be designed around the realities of a modern energy system. Rather than advocating for a specific regulatory solution, we emphasise the need for a framework that supports efficient integration of consumer energy resources, encourages innovation, and provides clear pathways for participation in energy markets and network services.
