The Department of Industry, Science and Resources consulted on options to support the domestic manufacturing capability of wind towers in the short (1-4 years) to medium (5+ years) terms, including their servicing supply chains.
This submission explores the near-term demand outlook for wind, including the enduring challenges facing industry. Other barriers to local manufacturing are explored, including cost, economies of scale and market concentration. It also explores the potential benefits of improved supply chain resilience and makes recommendations to government to conduct a sector assessment, establish a consistent demand pipeline and ensure cost neutrality for customers.
