We strongly support the intent of the Draft Guideline on Community Benefits for Renewable Energy Projects.

Our submission is in three parts, touching on values of benefits, governance and administration and First Nations. It makes 10 specific recommendations and a number of high-level suggestions. The recommendations focus on accounting for uncertainty over 30-year financial commitments, defining what activities are considered benefit sharing, inclusion of (Battery Energy Storage Systems) BESS, strengthening commitments by integrating the guide with the planning regime and improving transparency for industry and stakeholders.
