Women In Renewables Luncheon To Showcase The Value Of Mentorship At Australian Clean Energy Summit 2023

Ruby Heard, Alinga Energy ConsultingJenny Paradiso, SuntrixRomilly Madew AO FTSE HonFIEAust, Engineers AustraliaClean Energy Council Director of Workforce Development, Dr Anita Talberg, said that mentoring programs such as the Women in Renewables program are integral parts of supporting women in their professional and personal growth, particularly among those in the early stages of their career.“Mentors play an invaluable role sharing their unique insights, experience and knowledge of the clean energy industry, and providing participants with a model for development into future industry leaders.”While representing 50 per cent of Australia’s workforce, women currently represent 39 per cent of the clean energy workforce, compared to 22 per cent in the broader energy sector.More work remains to be done in increasing the representation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) (31 per cent), construction trades (22 per cent), senior leadership (32 per cent) and board (19 per cent) roles across the sector.The Clean Energy Council’s Women in Renewables program is committed to working towards an even more inclusive and diverse workforce, concurrent with modernising Australia’s energy system to achieving the goal of 82 per cent renewable energy by 2030.
