The New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) is a set of standards for retailers that is designed to protect consumers.
It covers everything from marketing, through installation or delivery, to after-sales support when purchasing New Energy Tech (NET).
NET includes, but is not limited to, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind turbines, hydro and bioenergy generators, microgrids, energy managements products, energy storage products, power purchase agreements (PPAs), electric vehicle charging services, as well as new and emerging technologies.
Authorised by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the NETCC aims to uplift the minimum requirements set by Australian Consumer Law and provide additional consumer protections.
The NETCC is voluntary and is governed by the NETCC Council which comprises representatives of industry and consumer protection groups to enhance consumer protection.
An incredible milestone in consumer protection and high standards in new energy technologies
In October 2025, the New Energy Tech Consumer Code (NETCC) program reached an incredible milestone of over 2,000 approved sellers across Australia.
NETCC is a standard designed by industry and consumer bodies, with the Clean Energy Council, the programs administrator, overseeing monitoring, compliance and enforcement of the NETCC to protect consumers' interests and increase confidence when purchasing new energy technologies such as solar, battery storage, EV chargers and more.
More than 2,000 approved sellers are helping build consumer trust and maintain standards in new energy tech, ensuring that customers get safe, quality and reliable products and services.

The NETCC Program has replaced the Approved Solar Retailer (ASR) program
The NETCC program expands on the previous ASR program to include new and emerging technologies.

Governance
The NETCC Council is composed of peak industry and consumer body leaders.
The NETCC panel is responsible for overseeing the monitoring of compliance and enforcement of the code.
The Clean Energy Council has been appointed by the NETCC Council as the administrator and steward responsible for the operations of the NETCC program.
