The following is attributable to Nathan Hart, Clean Energy Council Director – Advocacy & Community Engagement:

“The Clean Energy Council supports VicGrid’s new Social Value Guidelines for  industry operating in Victoria.

"Across the state, our members are already working hand-in-hand with local communities to deliver genuine benefit-sharing, local procurement and local employment as renewable energy projects are built and run.

“These guidelines complement and support that work. By setting clear expectations for industry and communities, they build on the strong foundations our members have already laid and will help lift standards further across engagement, benefit-sharing, programs local procurement and local employment.

“Victoria has 607 renewable energy projects either under construction or in operation, delivering value to local communities and facilitating an orderly handover from our ageing coal-fired power station fleet. We know that many of our members are already working closely with local communities to deliver these outcomes right now.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with CEC members to implement and refine these guidelines over the long term.”
