Australia has cemented its status as a world leader in rooftop solar, surpassing a remarkable milestone of four million rooftop solar installations across the country and slashing Aussie energy bills.
Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton, said that by installing rooftop solar, Australian households have now collectively saved up to $6 billion annually off their energy bills, which equates to an average of $1500 a year per installation and up to $150 billion in collective savings over 25 years.

"However, this milestone wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of over 10,000 committed and professional installers across the country.
“Installers are the engine room of this solar revolution and with most being sole traders or small business operators, this is good news for jobs, for economic prosperity and for communities and families, everywhere,” he said.
Rooftop solar now equates to a total of 25 GW installed capacity in Australia; surpassing the amount of coal generation installed in Australia.
“This extraordinary achievement demonstrates that clean energy is now mainstream,” Mr Thornton said.
“Australia’s status as a world leader in rooftop solar is a testament to Australia’s world leading sunshine combined with the benefits to customers through lower energy bills and greater peace of mind about their energy consumption.
“The next piece of the puzzle is to increase the uptake of household batteries and other smart household appliances for all Australian households and businesses, with the added benefits of lowering prices for all customers and strengthening energy system resilience and security,” he said.
