The Clean Energy Council today acknowledged the Queensland Government’s 2025–26 Budget as a positive and practical step toward a more affordable and reliable energy future and stressed that careful delivery will determine its long-term success.
Clean Energy Council Queensland Director, Tracey Stinson, congratulated Treasurer David Janetzki and Premier David Crisafulli for making positive progress on further investment in clean energy in their first Budget.
“The focus on pumped hydro through funding for large-scale storage options like Borumba, Mt Rawdon, Capricornia are critical to making sure renewable energy is available when Queenslanders need it most, especially during peak demand,” Ms Stinson said.
Key transmission links like CopperString will contribute to unlocking Queensland’s potential to host more renewable energy. CopperString will help connect North Queensland’s abundant wind and solar resources to the grid, supporting local investment and creating well-paid regional jobs as the clean energy industry grows.Tracey Stinson Clean Energy Council State Director - QLD
“Projects like this will also help cement the economic benefits of the transition in regional Queensland.
“Support for new wind farms and batteries through Stanwell Corporation will add flexibility and help reduce price volatility,” she said.
Ms Stinson also welcomed the Supercharged Solar for Renters program as a practical move to make sure more people share in the benefits of clean energy.
“Too often renters miss out on the savings solar can deliver,” Ms Stinson said.
“This program will help cut energy bills for those who need it most. The key will be making sure it’s easy to access so it reaches everyone who can benefit.
Ms Stinson added that while the funding is welcome, ensuring investor confidence is key.
The most important part in this Budget will be ensuring there is confidence for industry to keep investing in a way that supports communities, drives regional jobs and lowers energy bills for all Queenslanders.Tracey Stinson Clean Energy Council State Director - QLD
“Our industry looks forward to working closely with the Government on the energy roadmap and with local communities to help make these plans a reality,” she said.
