The following is attributable to Jackie Trad, Chief Executive Officer at the Clean Energy Council:
“The Clean Energy Council and our members acknowledge the passage of Queensland’s Energy Roadmap Amendment Bill 2025, which recognises the important role that renewables will continue to play in Queensland’s energy mix.
“However, we remain concerned about a lack of ambition set out in the State Government’s Energy Roadmap, which outlines up to 6.8 GW of new wind and large-scale solar farms, and up to 3.8 GW of storage capacity are projected to be brought online by 2030.
“Queensland has long been a leader in large-scale renewable energy projects, and we hope that this plan acts as a floor and not a ceiling, to avoid the state falling behind the rest of Australia in attracting future investment.
“An ambitious renewables rollout in Queensland would deliver significant benefits in employment opportunities, community benefits, procurement and council rates in local communities hosting this vital infrastructure.
“Time will tell whether this new roadmap will provide the certainty required for the clean energy industry to undertake a timely and successful transition.
”We will continue to advocate strongly for the clean energy industry to continue operating with confidence in Queensland, and we look forward to ensuring that this transition delivers reliable, affordable energy and lasting benefits for Queenslanders.”
